pine and spruce from discarded one way pallets, wood glue
for Möbel Ehrmann
We’ve seen them before: Up-cycling ideas made from old Euro-pallets. They are even available for purchase as such in ready-made arrangements. A good idea in itself to recycle discarded old objects one could think – if they were really no longer usable. After all, Euro-pallets are normally made for shipping and can be used as transport carriers for a very long period of time and over and over again. One-way pallets, on the other hand, are different: They are for the single shipment of good and made of supposedly inferior wood. After being used, they end up as combustible material. And there are countless of them. The ongoing project tutto takes on this material and gives it a new shine. The newly designed shapes do not have much to do with the original appearance of the pallets. but still cary memories of its origins. Only 7 cm wide and 20 mm thick boards are used: The maximum dimensions that remain after joining and dressing the boards. Away from the classic pallet upcyling and towards a real design object. A product series, that shows, how alternative raw material sources can be discovered and how they can be used.
